As principal of St Therese Catholic Primary School Sadleir Miller I am delighted to welcome you to the St Therese Catholic Primary School website, and describe our vision of providing an outstanding Catholic education for students from Preschool to Year 6.
I love this school and, even on the days when I am marooned in the office under a pile of paperwork, my spirits are constantly lifted by the passing parade of children, who are always ready to greet me with a smile and a wave. I don’t think I would find this level of warmth anywhere else.
Our teaching and support staff are highly skilled, passionate professionals, and are committed to ensuring that every student receives the best possible opportunities. Here you will find that our vision for education is very clear in our commitment to enable all students to “live the gospel, learn for life and meet the challenge”. At St Therese’s this means a focus on delivering a rigorous curriculum and personalised learning to challenge and meet the needs of each student.
Our school has been recognised as an Apple Distinguished School. This accolade recognises St Therese as a global leader in education, specifically through the integration of technology into our students’ learning.”The school has established a culture of leadership and learning through reflective professional practice, international connections and direct research into the impact of learning on student outcomes,” acknowledged Apple. St Therese is one of a small group of educational institutions globally that has received this accreditation.
Our teaching methods and practices reflect the needs of our students and the world in which they live, and our community lives out the motto of ‘Simplex Caritas’ – Simple Love. Students at St Therese will develop strong working relationships with friends and staff members.
As educators, we acknowledge that we share the responsibility of education with parents. Learning is a partnership, and we will warmly welcome your participation and support.
Our school policies and procedures, our approach to pastoral care and the way we relate to each other as members of a learning community reflects the Catholic values we hold. We are blessed to be supported by our Parish Priest, Fr. Tui Paulino Kolio Tu’.
Our website will, I hope, reflect the dynamic nature of our special St Therese community and I welcome you to follow our unfolding story via this site.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs Michelle McKinnon
Principal
