Principal’s Message

01-st-therese-sadlier-principal-and-student

As principal of St Therese Catholic Primary School Sadleir, I am delighted to welcome you to our school website and describe our vision of providing an outstanding Catholic education for students from Preschool to Year 6.

Our teaching and support staff are highly skilled, passionate professionals, and are committed to ensuring that every student receives the best possible opportunities. Here you will find that our vision for education is very clear in our commitment to enable all students to “live the gospel, learn for life, and meet the challenge”. At St Therese’s this means a focus on delivering a rigorous curriculum and personalised learning to challenge and meet the needs of each student.

Our teaching methods and practices reflect the needs of our students and the world in which they live, and our community lives out the motto of ‘Simplex Caritas’ – Simple Love. Students at St Therese will develop strong working relationships with friends and staff members.

As educators, we acknowledge that we share the responsibility of education with parents. Learning is a partnership, and we will warmly welcome your participation and support.

Our school policies and procedures, our approach to pastoral care, and the way we relate to each other as members of a learning community reflect the Catholic values we hold. We are blessed to be supported by our Parish Priest, Fr. Paul Monkerud.

Our website will, I hope, reflect the dynamic nature of our special St Therese community and I welcome you to follow our unfolding story via this site.

StThereseCatholicPrimarySchoolSadleirMiller_AboutUs_History_CharismHistory
St Therese Catholic Primary School Sadleir is built on the rich heritage and legacy of our school and parish’s early pioneers. Our beloved Father Muldoon and a team of very passionate  Sacred Heart nuns worked hard to provide a parish primary school in the growing suburb of Sadleir.

Opening in January 1967, Sister Betty McMahon – inspired by the work of St Therese of Lisieux and the Sacred Heart nuns– became the first principal. The pioneers were very strong Catholics who demonstrated our school motto-Simplex Caritas-Simple Love in all that they did. They have provided us with a deep community spirit which we celebrate today.
